SUMMARY

Arcticom, a company within the BSNC family , is currently seeking a qualified Business Intelligence / Data Analyst in Suitland, MD. Key responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders to understand their data needs, then designing, developing, and publishing complex reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations using IBM Cognos Analytics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions and reports.

· Deeply understand and work with the underlying data model of the DBiT application’s database, including schema, relationships, data definitions and external connections.

· Maintain and enhance data models within IBM Cognos Analytics, integrating data from both enterprise application databases and various external sources.

· Design, develop, and publish complex reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations using IBM Cognos Analytics to meet business needs.

· Conduct in-depth data analysis using SQL to extract, manipulate, and interpret data from diverse sources, identifying trends, anomalies, and insights.

· Perform data validation and ensure data quality and integrity across all reporting and analytical processes.

· Document data models, report specifications, and analytical methodologies to ensure clarity and maintainability.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

· A bachelor’s degree is required

· 3-5 years of experience in data analysis/business intelligence

· Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

· Experience using GitHub, and knowledge of best practices for managing reports, queries, functions, packages, configuration files, and any other code used in data analysis and business intelligence

· Ability to communicate complex data findings and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

· Ability to support or back up database developers in writing and optimizing functions and procedures that respond to calls from APIs or other backend application code.

· Familiarity with writing and optimizing procedures and functions using PL/SQL (or similar procedural SQL languages) specifically for data querying and reporting purposes

Preferred

· Experience with federal government budget and contracting systems, data, and reporting requirements.

· This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· No supervisory responsibilities.

1ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
