Job Summary:
The HVAC Engineer is responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role supports facility operations by managing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. The ideal candidate will have 3–4 years of HVAC experience , strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) and handle work orders related to HVAC and facilities systems.
Install, repair, adjust, and maintain electric or pneumatic control systems for building HVAC and refrigeration systems.
Conduct performance testing and system inspections to ensure optimal equipment operation and regulatory compliance.
Diagnose equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Maintain facility systems and respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
Follow defined work procedures while ensuring safety and efficiency.
Assist in documenting maintenance activities and reporting equipment conditions.
Collaborate with other facilities and engineering team members as needed.
Required Experience:
3–4 years of experience in HVAC system maintenance and repair.
Strong background in mechanical and facilities maintenance.
Experience handling preventive maintenance programs and equipment diagnostics.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma required.
In lieu of a diploma, equivalent experience will be considered.
Required Skills:
HVAC installation, troubleshooting, and repair
Preventive maintenance execution
Time management and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
Prior electrical or building maintenance experience
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple work orders
Certifications/Licenses:
EPA 608 Certification or NFPA 70E preferred
Valid driver’s license required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more .
Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
Work may involve exposure to mechanical or electrical equipment.
