Advantra is partnering with a seed-stage AI infrastructure startup in San Francisco to hire a Software Engineer New Grad to contribute to their distributed query engine and core products.

About the role

You will build features for a distributed query engine and cloud service for AI workloads. You will collaborate with engineers on design, implementation, testing, and debugging. You will gain experience building production systems and learn from senior engineers while contributing meaningful code.

Responsibilities

1. Contribute to core features of the distributed query engine.
2. Develop and maintain cloud service components.
3. Write clean and maintainable code with mentorship.
4. Collaborate with the team on real-world data solutions.
5. Assist with testing and debugging of system components.
6. Document features and workflows for internal use.
7. Learn best practices for distributed data systems.
8. Participate in code reviews and team discussions.
   
   
   
   

Core requirements

1. Within 1 year of graduating from a university degree.
2. Strong programming skills in Python and/or Rust.
3. Familiarity with distributed systems or databases concepts.
4. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
5. Ability to write clean, maintainable code.
6. Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced startup.
7. Experience with debugging and testing code.
8. Willingness to collaborate and take direction from senior engineers.
9. Interest in AI or ML workloads and data infrastructure.
10. Comfortable working on complex technical problems.
    
    
    
    

Nice to have

1. Experience with distributed query engines or data pipelines.
2. Knowledge of SQL or data processing frameworks.
3. Open-source contribution experience.
4. Experience with GPU or cluster computing.
5. Familiarity with ML model pipelines or AI systems.
